We talk in UK Women empowerment, fgm, domestic violence & mental health

2021 refugee welcome event was held in London were NEWUK with the help of funders help provide nessassry cloths, shoes and meal for new coming Eritrean refugee youth and women. This event also included many empowering talks and advice on living in UK for these newcomer. It was attended by ….. youth.

Poetry event was held at central London where 4 Eritreans shared their poetry with us. It was attended by over 30 people.

International women’s day 2019 is our biggest event to date where we celebrated Eritrean women from all walks of life at the Amba hotel in London. We had a mental health awareness talk from clinical psychologist dr Haben. there was poetry reading and story telling from women who shared with us what it meant to be women and specifically Eritrean women. All of this was over a three course meal which was concluded by a concert from the great Eritrean singer abrar.

2022 international women’s day held in south london was attended by over 30 Eritrean women from all walks of life. The theme for this year was celebrating the women entrepreneurs and professionals.

This event was a book launch hosted by network of Eritrean women- uk for the achievement of the mendy’s creative writing workshop in which Sudanese and Eritrean women have collaborated in to writing a biographical book which tells many stories of their experiences in the diaspora. This workshops were coordinated and hosted by dr ishraqa mustafa hamed.

This event was held in south london where we were gathered to celebrate Ramadan with our Muslim sisters. We discussed what it mean celebrating Ramadan in the uK and how the community & NewUK can help make this sacred month feel less lonely and connected.
